The Sony Ericsson K850i is a new high end mobile phone. It has only been available to the public recently. It was presented as a new Sony Ericsson K (Kamera) product in June 2007. Then available only after it was had been approved by the FCC in October 2007. Being that the cyber shot cell phones are considered to be quality devices it is unfortunate since there are not many in the US. This new cell phone is made in a candy bar design. The Sony Ericsson K850i is eye catching with the sleek highlights. It is a quad band phone that supports UMTS (Universal Mobile Telephone System) and has five megapixel ability. The UMTS talk time is longer than that of the K800 and the K810, now being from three hours and thirty minutes up to five hours. It has an easy listening sound system and a wide range of other features.

Other than the Sony M2 the Sony Ericsson K850i is the only cell phone to support micro SD and micro SDHC. This new phone has a beautiful display. The touch option on the phone allows standby, return or ending a function. The camera interface is different to be more like that of Cybershot digital cameras. Picture taking quality on the Sony Ericsson K850i is of fantastic quality. It is reported that this is one of the finest camera cell phones to date.

Considering that the there are not many of the Sony Cyber shots available in the United States it may be a mistake on the part of the company. Two of the few that are available have won the Editor's Choice Award. Both the Sony Ericsson K790a and the K800i handsets offer a broad array of features, superior picture taking and quality phone calling. So, of course, the new Sony Ericsson K850i also passes the performance test with high performance and few complaints.

This new phone is four inches tall by almost two inches wide and just over 1/2 inches thick. It has an average size, but is a little on the heavy end weighing in at just over four ounces. The volume control also doubles as the zoom when in camera mode. The Sony Ericsson K850i has an exceptional display. As an extra bonus you can adjust the clock size and or the brightness. The menus are easy and simple to use as well.
